Families & Children

The CAT welcomes visitors of all ages! This page includes information to help make your family's visit a success.

Protecting the Art

  • Help us keep the art safe! Give it plenty of space by keeping at least an arm's length away and remember never to touch any artworks...not even the outdoor sculptures.

  • Small children should be accompanied by adults in the gallery at all times. Carrying children piggyback-style or on an adult's shoulders is not permitted inside the museum.

  • If you plan to carry your baby in a sling or backpack, please be mindful of your surroundings, especially when using a back-mounted carrier.

  • Diaper bags are permitted but should be carried to the front or the side, not worn on the back.

  • Strollers are welcome in the gallery, but please leave large wagons in front entry.

  • Chest and bottle feeding are allowed anywhere in the museum, but please no sippy cups, water bottles, or snacks of any kind.

  • Accessible restrooms with changing stations are available.

Ways to Visit

Families are welcome to explore the museum on their own during drop-in hours on Friday evenings and Saturdays.

Please note that our volunteer-led guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays are geared toward a general adult audience, though children are welcome.

For facilitated experiences specifically designed for family audiences, see our list of upcoming programs below.
